Workplace Assessors & Moderators
WHAT IS WORKPLACE ASSESSMENT?

Workplace assessment is the final part of structured workplace learning in the State sector. It's about valuing and formally recognising the skills and knowledge that people use in their jobs every day and encouraging them to gain even more experience.

State sector agencies use registered workplace assessors - from their agency or an external agency - to assess learners against unit standards from the National Qualifications Framework.

When you judge that a learner's skills and knowledge meet the standards required, they can be formally recognised with a national qualification.

Assessment can take place on or off the job. You could assess what the learner:

· already knows and does in their job - their current skills

· has learned and demonstrates in their everyday work - their new learning.
