WHAT IS A MODERN APPRENTICESHIP?

A Modern Apprenticeship is an agreement between an employee and an agency that leads to a national qualification. A Modern Apprentice, aged 16 to 21, agrees to complete a structured workplace learning and assessment programme at the same time as working for a State sector agency. The agency agrees to support the Modern Apprentice to achieve their qualification.
State Sector Modern Apprenticeship ProgrammeAs the industry training organisation for the State sector, Learning State coordinates the State Sector Modern Apprenticeship Programme. Every year over 100 employees from across the State sector take part in this exciting workplace learning programme designed to bring the talent of the new generation into the State sector. State sector Modern Apprentices can choose to specialise in any one of a number of areas, including: - adult education and training
- business administration
- being a conservation ranger
- computing
- contact centre operations
- customer service
- first line management.
