If you have enthusiastic employees aged 16 to 21, they may be able to begin a Modern Apprenticeship. You'll have motivated young people working for you and towards a national qualification. And you'll be contributing to preparing tomorrow's workforce and future leaders.

A Modern Apprenticeship is a partnership between you and your employee. The Modern Apprentice works towards a national qualification at the same time as working for you. Learning State supports you both every step of the way.

How long does a Modern Apprenticeship take?

A Modern Apprenticeship takes only 2 years to complete. And while your employee is working towards achieving a qualification, you don't lose productivity - they continue to work for you.

Which Modern Apprenticeship is most relevant?

Let Learning State help you to select the apprenticeship most relevant to your business and the Modern Apprentice's goals.

Your Modern Apprentice will work towards a qualification at level 3 or level 4 on the National Qualifications Framework in an area such as:

  • business administration
  • call centre operations
  • computing
  • conservation ranger
  • customer service.

The most common qualifications are the National Certificate in Business Administration and National Certificate in Customer Service (Public Sector).

How does Learning State support my agency?

When you take on a Modern Apprentice, Learning State supports you every step of the way to make sure the Modern Apprenticeship is successful.

Learning State will assign you and the apprentice a Learning State Advisor who will be there with you through the whole 2 years of the apprenticeship. The Advisor makes sure the apprenticeship works for you and the apprentice, and manages the administration associated with the apprenticeship.

The advisor helps you to:

  • sign up the Modern Apprentice
  • develop a personal training plan for your Modern Apprentice
  • identify suitable workplace assessors and help to train them
  • develop workplace assessment guides
  • review your Modern Apprentice's progress
  • guide you and your Modern Apprentice through any difficulties.
