MODERN APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAMME

Places available for modern apprentices

Learning State currently has spaces available on the State Sector Modern Apprenticeship Programme.

Every year, around 160 young employees from right across the State sector take part in this exciting workplace learning programme designed to bring the talent of the new generation into the State sector.

If you've got employees aged between 16 and 22 who you think would be suitable for this programme - please contact Learning State Agency Services Advisor Angela Banfield at angela.banfield@ssc.govt.nz

About the State Sector Modern Apprenticeship Programme

Learning State, as the industry training organisation for the State sector, coordinates the State Sector Modern Apprenticeship Programme. A modern apprenticeship can take between two to three years to complete, depending on the programme.

Employees can choose to specialise in any one of a number of areas, including:

  • business administration,
  • computing,
  • contact centre operations and
  • customer service.
  • of the learning takes place on the job, in a way that enhances your employee's work skills, knowledge and productivity. At the end of the programme, your employee will gain a nationally recognised tertiary qualification.

What's involved?

Learning State aims to make it as easy as possible for State sector agencies to take part.

We'll provide your agency with a 'modern apprenticeship coordinator' who'll be responsible for mentoring, monitoring and supporting your employee. We can also arrange for assessment of your modern apprentice, although there may be a small fee for this.
