What is structured workplace learning?Workplace learning happens in the usual course of your working day at your workplace. Learning State's workplace learning and assessment programmes are structured around the unit standards and qualifications on the National Qualifications Framework. How can workplace learning help me?Find out what's in it for you. For example, workplace learning lets you earn and learn at the same time, so you won't need a student loan. How do I get started as a registered State sector learner?You need a New Zealand Qualifications Authority Record of Learning number before you can begin workplace learning and assessment, and you need your employer's agreement. What is workplace assessment?Workplace assessment is the final part of a structured learning programme. A qualified workplace assessor measures and formally recognises the skills and knowledge you have gained and are using on the job every day. What does it cost to take part in workplace learning?Your workplace learning and assessment aren't free. But the good news is that your State sector employer is likely to pay all or part of these costs. You won't need a student loan, but you will need to be motivated. How much time does workplace learning take?Workplace learning fits into your working day over a period of time. For example, assessment for first line management may take 6 to 12 months, while a State sector Modern Apprenticeship takes 2 to 3 years. It all depends on the learning and assessment programme that is designed for you and your agency. What qualifications can I choose?Choose from the wide array of qualifications, learn about the different learning staircases to progress your career, and discover the transferable skills you can include in your training plan.
