LEARNING STATE LIMITED - LEADING WORKPLACE LEARNING IN THE STATE SECTOR

Learning State Limited is the industry training organisation for the State sector.

At Learning State Limited we are leaders in workplace learning and assessment, and we are the organisation accredited by the Tertiary Education Commission to manage workplace learning and assessment arrangements for the State sector.

It is our job to work with government agencies to:

  • identify current and future skill needs
  • set national standards and qualifications
  • advise and manage arrangements for workplace learning and assessment
  • support the development of their staff and agency
  • develop a culture of workplace learning and assessment across the State sector.

What do we do at Learning State Limited?

Learning State Limited promotes workplace learning and assessment to support State sector agencies and employees as a skilled, motivated, and qualified workforce.

We support agencies and learners every step of the way by:

  • working with State sector agencies to develop a workplace learning and assessment model that fits their structure, culture, and business needs
  • helping State sector agencies to identify the skills their agency needs
  • helping State sector agencies to determine the best ways to develop their employees to meet their employees' and the agency's needs
  • helping State sector agencies to determine the learning pathways that will get their staff to where they want to go
  • advising on State sector employees' learning and development arrangements to help them to achieve unit standards and national qualifications
  • developing assessment resources and guides for learners and workplace assessors
  • managing the State sector Modern Apprenticeship Programme
  • registering and providing professional development for workplace assessors
  • making sure workplace assessment across the State sector is of a high and consistent quality.

What is our organisational structure?

Learning State Limited is a not-for-profit Crown-owned company. It is led by a chief executive responsible to a board of directors appointed by the Minister of State Services and the Minister of Finance.

How are we funded?

Learning State Limited is funded by members' subscriptions and through the Tertiary Education Commission's Industry Training Fund.

Learning State Limited is an integral part of New Zealand's industry training environment. It is the industry training organisation accredited to manage workplace learning and assessment across the State sector.

Who are our members?

Learning State Limited's member agencies include public service departments, other agencies defined as 'departments' under the Public Finance Act 1989, offices of Parliament, Crown entities, and some State-owned enterprises.
