Search Tips
Three search facilities are available:
Use whichever facility best suits your needs. Wildcard searching and searching for phrases is permitted.
The quick search facility is located below the left hand side navigation bar.
Simply enter any word or words into the search box and click the 'Go' button. Documents and files containing any of the words entered will be listed.
If you are currently within a sub-section of the site, you may also choose to either search the whole site or just the current sub-section
When the search results are displayed, the "Basic Search" form is also displayed.
Use this search in the same way as the quick search.
You can also choose to display the results by the date the document was last updated (newest first) rather than by relevance.
Use the advanced search to refine your search to particular areas of the site or particular document types.
You can also search for partial words using the asterisk character '*'.
Eg chemi* will find results containing words that begin with 'chemi' (chemical, chemistry, chemist)
Note: The asterisk can only be used at the end of a word. che*ist or *emical will not work as you might expect.
If the words you enter are quoted by '...' or "...", the search engine will treat them as phrase. Only documents or files containing that exact phrase will be returned. e.g. The search phrase "Annual Report" will present SSC Annual Report for the year ended 30 June as a search result.
